ホイールローダーとは？

 土木をはじめ、畜産・造園・農場などで活躍する重機です。フロントのアタッチメントを取り替えて、様々な現場で威力を発揮します。油圧ショベルより一度に大量の土砂を積込むことができます。 四輪駆動なので、冬季では除雪車として、そして夏季では建設現場の作業車として使われます。現在は災害の復興などで全国から復興地に建設機械（ドライバー含む）が集結しております。

 使う用途、地面の状況などに合わせてタイヤも変えることが出来ます。主に大量の土砂や雪などをダンプに積込むために使用するため、歪な形をしたタイヤが使用されます。また、運転席に関しては、天井だけのタイプと雨風をしのげる室内タイプがございます。

ホイールローダーの種類

 ローダーを区別すると二つ「装軌式：トラックローダー／装輪式：ホイールローダー」に分類されます。そしてホイールローダーを区別すると「二駆ホイールローダー／四駆ホイールローダー」に分類されます。トラックローダーは険しい現場で使われるため、タイヤ式のホイールローダーとは別な用途で使われます。

資格取得について

 ショベル系を運転・操作するために必要な免許は「車両系建設機械運転者(車両系建設機械(整地･運搬等)」と「特殊自動車免許」の二つとなります。車両系建設機械運転者に関しては、機体質量3トン未満／小型車両系建設機械（整地・運搬・積込・掘削）特別教育／機体質量3トン以上／車両系建設機械（整地・運搬・積込・掘削）技能講習共に満18歳以上となります。特殊自動車免許は大型：満18歳以上／小型：満16歳以上となり、共に視力・聴力検査が別途必要となります。また、公道を走行する場合は「道路交通法に従った資格」が別途必要となります。
